The char siew strikes a balance—neither overly fatty nor dry—offering a flavorful bite that reflects careful charcoal grilling and a well-crafted soy sauce blend.
What truly sets Sg.Besi Wan Tan Mee apart is its wantan soup. Praised for being fresh, light, and comforting, the broth complements the delicate wantans filled with a satisfying mix of flavors. For many guests, this bowl of wantan soup edges past ordinary, providing a warmth that keeps patrons coming back. The fried sui kow is another highlight—its crispy exterior and thin skin deliver a delightful textural contrast, making it a standout side that elevates the meal experience.
Among the signature dishes, the curry wild boar wantan mee deserves special mention. It offers a unique twist—rich in flavor yet mild in spice—winning over adventurous eaters. This dish exemplifies the kitchen’s blend of traditional recipes with subtle innovation.
While the prices lean slightly higher compared to similar eateries, the quality and generous portion sizes justify the expense. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, enhanced by attentive service from a warm, mostly Burmese staff. Though the location presents parking challenges, especially during peak hours, nearby roadside options and a short walk from neighboring landmarks help ease access.
Whether you seek a late-night supper or a comforting meal after a long day, Sg.Besi Wan Tan Mee delivers a satisfying, authentic taste of Kuala Lumpur’s rich culinary heritage. The nostalgic flavors and thoughtful preparation make it a reliable choice for wantan mee enthusiasts and curious food lovers alike.
“ The wantan mee was quite tasty, especially the char siew and wantan. This roadside restaurant stays open until late, making it a convenient dining option. However, parking can be challenging due to its location along the main road, and the prices are slightly higher than other restaurants. ”
“ The noodles are decent ,springy enough and coated well, though nothing extraordinary. The wan tan soup is alright too, light and comforting. The char siew has a smoky , savory flavour but leans a bit dry. That said, the price is very reasonable, which makes it a solid choice for a casual meal. The Burmese waiters are friendly. What stood out the most for me? The fried sui kow! Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and paired perfectly with that sweet and sour chili sauce. I’d come back just for those. ”
“ Good Chinese food restaurant. Tried Char Siew WanTan Mee and Wanton soup. Wanton soup was the best Wanton soup I ever had. Very fresh and tasty. Char Siew Noodles was bit sweet than I liked but good . Cild Long Sui was good also. Costed around RM 11.50. Nice place to try. Overall good place for char siew and Wanton soup. Can park outside and peaceful. ”
“ The noodles are thin and springy. Previously the sauce wasn’t sweet, but, now it seems to be sweet.. Love the wonton soup tho! It is good! Moreover, the char siew is so yummy! Also, the curry wild boar is amazing! However, the price does not do justice knowing the location. But, parking is always an issue as the place is often full. ”
“ The Wan Tan Mee is delicious. Very traditional Chinese taste by local Chinese. Super thin wan tan mee and the Char Siew is the perfect match. The meat of Char Siew is just good with enough fatty part and meat. Not over fatty. The taste is charcoal grill with soy sauce. The big portion is So big !!!! Small portion just enough to fill up for a meal. I also tried the roasted duck and roasted port. So yummy and I believe they well made the ingredients to pickle it. Always pass by the road side stall will full house in the night to midnight session. ”
